Silk screening—also known as screen printing—is a technique that seems confusing and difficult, but don’t be daunted by this traditional and time-honored style of printing. People have been screen printing since the Song Dynasty in China nearly 1,000 years ago and the industry is still going strong. Popular with modern-day artists due to its affordability and ease of use, even the most novice designer can print professional quality prints with just a few tools, some simple rules, and practice!
Choosing the Pad
When selecting a pad, you need to consider shape, size, and hardness. If you have trouble finding the right pad, All American has a variety of pads in stock and carries molds for more than 1,000 different pads. Please be aware it takes 5 – 7 days to produce custom pads. For questions and orders please call (215)-634-2235 Mon.-Fri. from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (EST). If you’d like to know more about our pads visit Request a Custom Pad.
Today, what we consider to be rhinestones are actually cut lead crystal or molded glass. True rhinestones, so named for the crystals that were once easily panned out the Rhine River, are all but depleted. The name now refers almost exclusively to imitation gemstones.
